eBay Sneakers x Sneakerness

In September ‘23, I brought eBay Sneakers’ Authenticity Lab to life through illustration. A multi sensory experience that played on the senses used while authenticating sneakers sold using eBays Authenticity Guarantee.

The installation popped up over two weekends in September; outside King’s Cross Station and the following weekend at Sneakerness London, in The Truman Brewery.

You could experience a tongue-in-cheek version of the 5 senses that are used when authenticating your sneakers: taste, with custom illustrated lollies, sound clips playing through sneakers, alongside other interactive points to see, feel and smell the scents of authentic sneakers.

What senses were explored?

👁️ What to visually check for, such as stitching and label details.

👂🏼 The sounds of sneakers, straight from the box, court-side and more.

🤌🏼 The textures and quality of materials you can feel from touch.

👃🏼 Scents you can smell, including floral notes, leather, cedar etc.

👅 eBay also tied the visuals of specific sneakers, such as the Nike Limeade Air Max 1 and Nike x Ben & Jerries Chunky Dunky into customised edible lollies.

…All with a ‘fantastical science lab’ twist throughout!
